Banks and currency exchange
Banks and exchange offices are located in the city centre close to the hotels.
Normal opening hours for banks are:
- Monday-Wednesday, Friday: 10:00-16:00
- Thursday: 10:00-16:30
- Closed Saturday and Sundays

Currency in Denmark
The currency in Denmark is kroner and the exchange rates are approximately (June 2019):

- 1 GBP ~ 8,4 Kr
- 1 USD ~ 6,6 Kr
Most places in Denmark accept the major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), however some smaller shops may only accept cash. Cash machines (ATMs) accepting major credit cards are located all around the city.
Dining out in Aarhus
Most restaurants in Aarhus are open from 11.30 am to midnight. However, hot meals are not normally served after 10 pm. Gratuities are included in the bill.
Electricity in Denmark is 220V AC. Plugs are European standard with two round pins.
We have an emergency response team at the venue that can help you in case you have an accident or fall ill during the competition. There will be signs showing you where to find the team or else ask at the information desk by the entrance.
Outside venue you should ask for help at the reception desk at your hotel.

Shops on the main pedestrian street in the centre of Aarhus are usually open Monday to Thursday from 09:30 to 17:30 and Fridays until 19:00. On Saturdays these shops generally close around 15:00. Selected department stores and shopping centres around Aarhus are open later.
Supermarkets (some) are open on weekdays from 08:00-21:00 and weekends 08:00-18:00. Most shops accept all major credit cards, though small shops may only accept the local “Dankort” or cash. It is possible that a 3.75% fee will be charged if payment is made with a non-Danish credit card.
At venue smoking is stricktly prohibited. If someone smokes inside the building it will set off the fire alarm and the Fire Brigade will have to evacuate the whole building. The consequenses of this for the tournament are enormous as it will ruin the schedule completely. Smoking is ONLY allowed in front of the building in the designated area.
Smoking is also prohibited in all hotels, restaurants and public buildings and the fines for violating this law are substantial.
In Denmark everyone drinks tap water – it is safe and tastes great. Please fill the re-useable bottle with tap water and minimize the use of plastic bottled water. We re-cycle all cans and plastic bottles, so please put them in the special baskets for re-cycling bottles/cans and NOT in the waste bin.
The Tall Ships Races
Some of the most beautiful Tall Ships in the world will be in Aarhus August 1st to 4th when The Tall Ships Races 2019 come to Aarhus. The stage is set for a harbour festival with lots of free activities for everybody. Read more about The Tall Ships Races.
Numerous taxi stands are located throughout Aarhus city centre. Hotel receptionists will be pleased to assist you.
Gratuities is automatically included in all bills for service, meals etc. Tipping is not required.

Aarhus is a little gem and offers a wide range of tourist attractions including The Old Town Museum, the pre-historic museum Moesgaard, the Art Museum Aros, the themepark Tivoli Friheden and the city itself with nice shops, gourmet restaurants, beaches, parks and a brand new Harbour Bath.
